Dr. Athena Owen Nagel is an Associate Teaching Professor in the Department of Geosciences.  She is the winner of the Center for Distance Education Online Teaching Award, the Southern Region of University Professional and Continuing Education Association (UPCEA) Professional, Continuing Online Educator Award, and the National UPCEA Excellence in Teaching Award.  She is also a Quality Matters Certified instructor.  Dr. Nagel has experience in online course development, active learning, and lab assignment creation in online environments and place-based learning.
